Becoming Soft Eating Spoon in Madrone
Bodies change, whether through age, illness, pregnancy, or just life. I know I continue to have a changing body and a changing relationship with it. This is a mantra that with the changes I seek to soften and receive, instead of become hard and resistant.
Eat every meal with pleasure. Using a handcrafted spoon designed to be comfortable in the hand and mouth is unlike using a metal spoon! Made from madrone from my childhood state of California.
Spoon Care:
Wash in warm to hot water with soap; towel or air dry. Regular use is the best way to keep your wooden piece conditioned. Every few years, if you need, you can use a food grade wood finish on your bowl.
The patina that develops on wooden wares over time enhances their natural beauty, imbuing each piece with a unique character and charm that reflects the memories of countless meals shared and generations of use.
This Spoon have been decorated with an old technique called Kolrosing. The design is incised with the tip of a knife and the space is packed with natural pigment. The surface is then burnished to close the opening leaving a permanent design in the piece of wood. To ensure the design stays in place avoid putting the spoon in the dishwasher or left soaking in water for extended periods of time. Normal use in cooking and washing by hand should be just fine.
Finish: Tung oil
Size: 13 cm in length
Carved by Raleigh
